Teak

Teak (Tectona Grandis) is a timber unmatched for its combination of rich color, exceptional strength, durability and low maintenance.

Teak Furniture is a high quality possession that is designed and created to last a lifetime. Left to age naturally Teak will become a soft silvery gray color. It is impervious to rain, snow, frost or sunlight and needs no paint or preservatives for general use.

The dense fibers of Teak matures over time to create not only one of natures most structurally sound and stable timbers, but also one of natures unique species that posses an inherently high content of oil and rubber.

The essential oil contained in this species of wood has an inbuilt natural water repellent which resists the action of water and prevents the rusting of iron, making it virtually immune to rotting as well as resistant to termites.

In times of old and that of the tall ships, Teak’s weatherproof qualities made it a first choice for sailing vessels. As these later became obsolete carpenters utilized the salvaged timbers to fashion the first outdoor Teak Furniture, thus the illustrious birth of this now specialized industry. Teak’s ability to resist the extremes of both summer and winter is an internationally recognized phenomena.

For several centuries, these special qualities have made Teak wood the preferred choice for marine decking and construction. Teak always will be the choice wood aboard ocean liners because it is capable of withstanding even the harshest elements such as salt water. Reasons like this make Teak wood the premium timber for Outdoor Furniture.

Brazilian Cherry

Brazilian Cherry is a very beautiful reddish brown wood, with an interlocking grain and a golden luster or glow beneath. It is a hard, heavy and very strong wood, having a specific gravity .91. Brazilian Cherry steam-bends well and glues well.

Brazilian Cherry is harder than any of the common domestic species.  It finishes well and machines well.  It is stable and extremely durable as a furniture component.  Outdoor furniture is particularly suited for use in Brazilian Cherry because it will last for a long time enduring the rigors of outdoor exposure.  Furniture from Brazilian Cherry resists dings, dents and scratches and finishes extremely smooth for a very rich looking design.

A hardness rating of 2350 on the Janka scale and a stability rating of .0030 make Brazilian Cherry and excellent choice for durable and long lasting furniture.
